How to use Spelling Bee Tree
Answers
Answers for the NYT Spelling Bee are shown as a
tree (or actually DAG).
The tree starts with every pangram which uses all 7 of the letters, then the branches show all words that use 6 of the letters, 5 of the letters, etc. Each node shows all words that use
exactly the same letters, like anagrams, including words that use the same letter any number of times. These "polyanagrams" are worth remembering for future Spelling Bees since if one can
find one of the words then the other words must be in the Bee also. Click on a node to see links to the definitions of each word in the node, and to see how frequently
the polyanagrams have appeared in recent Bees.
Hints
Hints for the NYT Spelling Bee follow the same pattern as Answers,
except the letters for each node are shown in alphabetical order without listing the words, and a number indicates how many
words are in the same node using the same letters. Click on a node
to see these polyanagrams and their frequency, and then click on the words to see their definitions.
Practice
Review previous Hints and Answers from old Bees. For the Hints, try to guess all
polyanagrams in a node. Review the largest and most frequent polyanagram groups.
